Banners Across America
Over 330 congregations, in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., displayed anti-torture banners during the month of June 2008, Torture Awareness Month. Most of the banners read "Torture is a Moral Issue" or "Torture is Wrong." Click here to learn more about "Banners Across America."
Display banners during November and January
Your congregation is encouraged to display a banner during the month of November 2008 and during the month of January 2009 to call for the President to issue an Executive Order banning torture. The banners in November will help highlight the nation-wide effort that will take place on November 12 urging the new President to issue an executive order prohibiting torture. The banners in January, during the Inauguration, will make the same request – an executive order prohibiting torture. Click here to order a banner.
Banners from Rabbis for Human Rights
Rabbis for Human Rights North America has created a banner featuring the motto of the Jewish Campaign Against Torture: Honor the Image of God: Stop Torture Now. Many synagogues (and several churches!) displayed the RHR-NA banner as part of Banners Across America. Click here to order the RHR-NA banner.
The Banner Poster
NRCAT has created a poster to honor all the participating congregations in “Banners Across America” - a nation-wide, interfaith effort to ban torture. The poster is also a witness to the necessity of ending U.S.-sponsored torture. Click here to order a poster.
